Safer Injecting for Steroid Users
At Enhanced Performance, we prioritise safety and responsible use. If you choose to administer injectable supplements, following proper hygiene and injection techniques can help reduce risks and improve results.
Under 21?
Steroid use before the age of 21 can pose significant developmental risks and negatively affect natural growth. This can have irreversible, long-term effects on you and your body, so to keep you healthy and safe, if you want to take anabolic steroids, it’s much better to focus on your diet and natural training until your time comes!
Choosing The Right Injection Site
For intramuscular injections, the safest sites are:
- Gluteus (Upper Outer Buttock) - Preferred site due to its large muscle mass and lower risk of hitting nerves or blood vessels.
- Vastus Lateralis (Outer Thigh) – A good alternative, especially for self-administration.
- Deltoid (Upper Arm) – Can be used, but carries more risk due to the smaller muscle size.
Avoid Injecting Into Veins or Nerves
Carefully locate the muscle and ensure you use the proper techniques.
Prepare For A Safe Injection
- Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water
- Use a flat, clean surface to preapre your injection
- Always use a fresh, sterile needle and syringe - NEVER REUSE OR SHARE NEEDLES.
- Draw up the correct dose into the syringe and remove any air bubbles by gently tapping it
Injecting Correctly
- Clean the injection site with an alcohol swab and let it dry
- Use the right needle size:
- Green (21G) needles - For drawing up the solution
- Blue (23G) needles - For injecting into smaller muscles like the deltoid
- Green (21G) needles - For injecting into larger muscles like the glutes
- Insert the needle at a 90-degree angle into the muscle
- Aspirate (Pull back slightly on the plunger) - If you see blood, withdraw and choose a different site
- Inject slowly and steadily, then remove the needle and apply gentle pressure with a sterile wipe
Safe Disposal of Needles and Syringes
It is important you DO NOT RECAP USED NEEDLES – dispose of them immediately in a proper sharp bin.
Also remember to never throw used needles in household waste – use a local needle exchange or council disposal service.
Reducing Risks & Staying Safe
Simple risk reduction and safety tips include:
- Rotate Injection Sites to prevent irritation and tissue damage
- Watch for signs of infection - redness, swelling, heat or pus at the injection site are all telltale signs
- Do Not Share or Reuse Needles - this prevents infections like hepatitis or abscesses
- Seek medical advice if you experience persistent pain, fever or unusual swelling
By following these guidelines, you can reduce health risks and ensure safer use of injectable supplements. If in doubt, always consult a healthcare professional for further advice.
Stay safe, train smart, and perform at your best. 💪
